Earlier today, school officials were made aware of a social media message threatening violence on the campus of East Rutherford Middle School. While the message appears to have limited circulation, I want to assure you that school officials and law enforcement personnel have actively investigated its source and any potential threat it expresses or implies. At this time, there is no evidence suggesting that the threat is credible.
Today, and at all times, the safety of our students is our top priority. We will continue to investigate all real and potential threats, and we will continue to take every necessary and appropriate step to ensure a safe school environment each day. As is customary under these circumstances, additional law enforcement personnel will be present on our campus tomorrow to ensure that no student feels unsafe.
